Girl Scout Troop
#41 Spends an Afternoon Helping Crosswinds
Cleanup After a
Spring Storm...
and
Donates $100!
Jill Rannebarger is Emma's mom (read more about Emma's
generosity below), and also works with local girl scout troop
#41 in Champaign. With Jill coordinating, this troop raised
$100 for Crosswinds, and then spent an afternoon with us,
cleaning up tree branches from recent storm damage, getting
'pony rides' on Tess (sorry no photos), as well as making
their wonderful donation. In addition, we presented Emma with
her Top Youth Donor of the Year 2004 Award for her incredible
generosity at her birthday last year. Thank you, Troop 41, for
all your kindness and hard work!!

Emma
Rannebarger's Incredible Generosity
2004: A local soon-to-be-10-year old girl saw Crosswinds' story
in the Champaign newspaper in spring, '04. She loves horses, but had never been
to visit Crosswinds. When it came time for her birthday, Emma asked her family
and friends to make donations to Crosswinds rather than give her gifts for her
birthday. This was such an amazingly selfless gift, and it caught the attention
of the local media as well as Crosswinds' supporters.
Emma, her mom and sister Molly came to visit Crosswinds on
the morning of the open house, July 17, 2004, bringing with them several hundred
pounds of feed, 3 bags of horse treats, brand new brushes and lead ropes and
other helpful tools, and several checks/gift certificates to help Crosswinds to
help the horses. Emma's incredible generosity makes her Crosswinds' first
platinum junior member (donating more than $250 in a single year).

Channel 3, WCIA Champaign, met the Rannebargers at
Crosswinds that morning and did a fabulous job of providing video coverage
of Emma's generous gift, as well as her pony ride on Merlin and overall
her chance to get to know first hand what Crosswinds does.
THANK YOU, Channel 3, for taking the time to share
this great story with our community!
We cannot begin to thank Emma enough for her amazing
generosity!

2005: Emma again makes a several hundred
dollar donation, again making her a Platinum Junior Member. Emma's
generosity this year included several bags of feed, some brushes and other
horse care items, numerous gift certificates to Prairieland Feeds, and
several checks. Thank you so much again this year, Emma! |
